In the beginning there were static websites that were simple but troublesome to update. Then dynamic websites (web applications) helped to make updating your website so simple that you could do it yourself but they were fairly expensive to develop.
Web developers can now integrate web services (Flickr/Picasa, Wordpress/Blogspot, Vimeo/Youtube, Twitter, etc.) into a static website. That means you can have fresh images, video, and other content on your simpler and therefore cheaper website.
Some clients will need a fully dynamic site for various reasons. I am working on a dynamic site solution using Python. I also have Java, Ruby, and PHP experience but prefer to work in Python.
I can design, develop, host, and maintain static, web-services integrated, and dynamic websites. I'm limiting this alpha-phase service to a few trusted clients but hope to serve the rest of Hawaii in a few short years. Google Apps also has website solutions that might work for some organizations. Launching a website is just the beginning of a web strategy. One must keep their website updated, fresh and well marketed to attract customers.
